The first UK Wetterhoun litter was born on 5th April 2023. We named the puppies after key members of the England rugby squads, past and present. There were 8 puppies - 3 girls and 5 boys, 4 brown and white and 4 brown. All puppies found wonderful homes in the UK in a variety of settings and we keep in touch to share the fun. Many owners changed the puppy names, but Marlie (named after the England Captain Marlie Packer) stays the same. We hope she will make Aafke a Grandma in 2026. We certainly approve of our new "son in law" Brandle and wish them all the best for their proposed "tie"!
Somehow the Rugby theme seems appropriate for the Wetterhoun character...
Puppies were raised using the Puppy Culture protocols. They have been Embark tested and registered with the Dutch Kennel Club.
There was considerable international media interest in the pups because of the rarity of the breed and the importance of preservation breeding. We appeared on TV and in local and national press. All the puppies attended Stabyfest in 2024, making an exciting reunion. Pan the pic below to see who can get their dog to face the camera!
